Local server backups

Automated, local backups are performed via the WiserSites backup service.

All local backups are stored on the WiserSites backup-data server. This storage area is separate from the primary server drive and can be quickly mounted and used as a restore point by datacenter personnel in the event of a catastrophic server failure or failure of the primary drive.

Local backups are made daily and weekly at approximately 12am.  At any given time there is 1 daily backup (previous night) stored and 1 weekly (previous Wednesday).  The backups contain the entire cPanel account, including emails, email account info, forwarders, add-on domains, subdomains, databases, etc. These backups can be quickly and easily imported into cPanel for a full-account restoration, or can be unzipped and individual items such as a MySql database can be extracted.

Off-server backups

Wisersites has partnered with Amazon for co-location/off-server backups.

Off-server backups are located in the Amazon S3 "cloud" and are protected with the same level of data-protection as WiserSites.com (local/server) data.

Off-server daily backups are generated on Sunday and Friday at approximately 12am and only the last two-daily backups are retained. At any given time there are 2 daily backups located off-server (Sunday and Tuesday, Friday and Thursday, etc).

Off-server weekly backups are generated Wednesday night at approximately 12am.  The previous two weekly backups (last two Wednesdays) are maintained off-server.

Off-server monthly backups are generated on the 15th of each month and one copy (from the previous 15th of the month) is maintained.

Off-server backups contain the entire cPanel account, including emails, email account info, forwarders, add-on domains, databases, etc. These backups can be quickly and easily imported into cPanel for a full-account restoration, or can be unzipped and individual items such as a MySql database can be extracted.
